Kick-Off Meeting Minutes

AFB 7/17/17 meeting minutes
32 people present. Over half under the age of 30.
Meeting took plane in Flint MI from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Below is the meeting minutes:
1. Why do we need this organization?
a. We need to get engaged and exposed to other cultures
i. Together we can help each other
ii. To share our values with others
b.Every city has an organization set up except beitsahour
i. Without it the new generation will be lost
ii. They will lose the values of our culture
iii. This is for the younger generation not for us
iv. We can to preserve our culture
2. Organization Mission and Objectives
a. Beitsahour.org has a draft version of the mission which we will need to build
3. How can it be done?
After long conversation on the best way to proceed. We agree to take small steps toward the final goal. So we agree to work on having a family re-union for Beit-Sahour with main focus on fun, culture, and family. To work toward this re-union, we formed AFB Fun team. During the re-union we will have a meeting to discuss the idea of the organization and its structure. To work on such task, we formed AFB advisory committee.
Both committees are flowed where anyone can join and contribute. Both committees are created as groups within face book with the names:
* AFB Fun Group
* AFB Advisory Group
In addition to using Facebook platform, Each committee will decide when and how they want to meet with focus on virtual meetings to allow remote collaboration.

Kick-Off Meeting

To join in person, be at Flint Best Western located at  6075 Hill 23 Dr, Flint, MI 48507-3894, United States on Monday July 17th at 7:00 PM

The main goal of the meeting is to establish a temporary one year steering committee.

During the first year the steering committee can have a fluid structure with at least once a month virtual meeting. Thus anyone can be an active member even if s/he can’t attend the kickoff meeting. The steering Committee can create as needed standup committees to help achieve its goal. The steering committee will be dissolved at the end of the first annual meeting.

During the first year the steering committee need to accomplish the followings:

1- Prepare a proposed organization constitution to be approved by general assembly.
2- Prepare a proposed organization by-law to be approved by the general assembly.
3- Prepare for the first organization annual convention.
4- Extend membership to any qualified person
5- Overseas nomination and election during the first annual meeting.

The Kickoff meeting will take place at Flint Best Western located at  6075 Hill 23 Dr, Flint, MI 48507-3894, United States

Doors open at 7:00 PM for refreshment but the formal meeting start at 8:00 PM and last until 10:00 PM
